Update (1:45PM):

The INDIA coalition, emerging as a formidable opponent to the BJP in Lok Sabha elections, is poised for a significant victory in assembly bypolls across seven states. As counting continues, the opposition alliance has secured two seats— one in Punjab and another in neighboring Himachal Pradesh— and holds a commanding lead in nine others. In contrast, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is currently ahead in two seats, one each in Himachal Pradesh and Bihar.

Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, clinched victory in the Dehra assembly constituency, marking Congress' first win in the region. Additionally, results have been declared for the Jalandhar West seat, secured by AAP's Mohinder Bhagat, reinforcing the party's alliance with INDIA on the national stage led by Arvind Kejriwal.

The counting of votes is underway for the by-polls to 13 Assembly seats across seven states, marking the first electoral exercise since the Lok Sabha polls that saw the BJP-led NDA forming the government for a third consecutive term.

State wise results

In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, is leading in all four seats. The ruling party won the Maniktala seat in the 2021 Assembly elections, while the BJP won Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, and Bagda. However, the BJP MLAs later switched to the Trinamool.

In Himachal Pradesh, the outcomes will impact both veterans and newcomers, including Chief Minister and Congress leader Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife, Kamlesh Thakur, who is leading against her BJP rival Hoshyar Singh in the Dehra constituency. The Congress is also leading in Nalagarh, while the BJP is ahead in Hamirpur.

In Uttarakhand, the Manglaur constituency is experiencing a three-cornered contest following the death of BSP MLA Sarwat Karim Ansari. The BJP is trailing in this Muslim- and Dalit-dominated seat, which has historically been held by either the Congress or the BSP. The ruling party is also trailing in Badrinath.

In Punjab, the bypoll in the Jalandhar West assembly segment serves as a crucial test for Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann. The ruling party is currently leading.

In Bihar, the poll was triggered by the resignation of JD(U) MLA Bima Bharti, who left to contest the Lok Sabha elections on an RJD ticket. The JD(U) is currently ahead.

In Tamil Nadu's Vikravandi constituency, the bypoll followed the death of DMK legislator N.Pughazhendhi. The DMK's Anniyur Siva (alias Sivashanmugam A) is leading over PMK's C Anbumani and Naam Tamilar Katchi's K Abinaya.

In Madhya Pradesh, the by-election in the Amarwara seat was prompted by the defection of three-time Congress MLA Kamlesh Shah to the BJP. The main contest in this Scheduled Tribes-reserved seat is between the BJP's Kamlesh Shah, the Congress's Dheeran Shah Invati, and the Gondwana Gantantra Party's (GGP) Devraman Bhalavi. Kamlesh Shah is currently leading.
