UP News: Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Baba, has reportedly received a death threat from Barjinder Parwana, a Sikh fundamentalist leader from Punjab. The threat comes in the wake of a statement by Shastri that has been allegedly misconstrued. Parwana, addressing an audience, declared, “Baba, take note, your countdown has started from today. We will kill you too.” Following this, a formal complaint has been lodged against Parwana, and the video of his inflammatory statement is circulating widely on social media.
The controversy appears to stem from a statement made by Dhirendra Krishna Shastri during an event in Moradabad on March 18. Shastri had called for the commencement of Rudrabhishek at the Harihar temple in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. However, Parwana allegedly misunderstood the statement, interpreting it as a declaration to perform rituals at Punjab’s Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). This misinterpretation led to Parwana issuing a series of threats, including, “We did not spare Indira Gandhi; we will not spare you either. Come to Amritsar if you dare.”
In response to these threats, several organizations have stepped forward demanding swift action. Leaders of Shiv Sena Punjab, including Avtar Maurya and Ajay Gupta, along with Sohanlal, President of the District Migrant Cell, filed a complaint with SSP Khanna, Ashwini Gotyal. They accused Barjinder Parwana of inciting communal tensions and attempting to destabilize Punjab’s peace. Similarly, Viresh Shandilya, Chief of Anti-Terrorist Front India and Vishwa Hindu Takht, demanded Parwana’s arrest within 48 hours, warning of large-scale protests if their demand is not met.
While the situation remains tense, it underscores the need for accurate communication to prevent such conflicts. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s statement, clarified to pertain only to the Harihar temple, highlights the importance of context in sensitive discussions. Community leaders are urging restraint and resolution through dialogue to ensure peace and harmony.
