Bihar News: A shocking incident has emerged from Vaishali, Bihar, where a newlywed woman was allegedly murdered by her in-laws over dowry demands. The victim's body was discovered wrapped in a sack and thrown into the Ganges River. Following the incident, the accused relatives fled their home. The victim's family has lodged a formal complaint with the police, leading to widespread grief and outrage among their community.
Naresh Rai, a resident of Patori in Samastipur district, reported that his daughter, Hira Mati, had married Deepak Kumar, the son of Shramukh Rai from Chandpura village in the Raghopur police area. After the marriage, Naresh claims that his daughter was not allowed to visit her parental home even once.
The in-laws reportedly demanded a dowry of 500,000 rupees and subjected Hira to physical abuse when their demands were not met. Naresh stated that every time he attempted to take his daughter back home, her in-laws would insist on the dowry payment.
Concerned about his daughter's well-being after losing contact with her, Naresh informed the police. Upon initiating a search for Hira, it was revealed that her body had been found in a sack in the Ganges River. After considerable effort, family members managed to retrieve her body from the river.
The police subsequently took possession of the remains from Kevala Ghat in Raghopur and sent them to Hajipur Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Investigations into the case are now underway.
The victim's family has accused her in-laws of murder due to their refusal to pay the dowry. This tragic event has caused immense distress among Hira's relatives. Raghopur Station House Officer Pankaj Kumar confirmed that allegations have been made against the in-laws for murdering the bride and disposing of her body in the river.
The police are actively investigating this heinous crime.This incident highlights ongoing issues surrounding dowry-related violence in India, raising serious concerns about women's safety and legal protections against such practices.
