New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Kumari Selja, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and MP from Sirsa, emphasized that while there may be internal competition for tickets, the decision ultimately rests with the party leadership. “Only one person will get the ticket, and as dedicated party workers, it’s important to work for the party, regardless of the outcome,” she stated, adding that the decision regarding the Chief Minister for each state is also a high-level decision made by the party.

During her conversation with the media, Selja touched upon the ongoing discussions regarding an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She mentioned that talks were progressing smoothly and warned that introducing threats or ultimatums during negotiations would not be helpful. Selja also clarified that the alliance approach differs from state to state, and delays are natural when finalizing such agreements. On the strength of Congress in Haryana, she remarked, "There’s no doubt that Congress holds a strong position in the state."

Addressing internal factionalism in Haryana politics, Selja dismissed any such claims. “When there are 2,500 applications, it’s natural to have competition, but only one candidate will be selected. It is the responsibility of the others to work as loyal party soldiers,” she noted. Regarding the choice of Chief Minister, she reiterated, "The decision of who will be CM is entirely up to the party leadership."

Commenting on the frequent paper leak scandals in Haryana, Selja criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of failing to maintain examination integrity. “Paper leaks have shattered the dreams and efforts of young aspirants. The BJP’s incompetence in handling these issues will cost them dearly,” she concluded.
