Congress has strongly criticised the Modi government's performance after its first 100 days in office during its third term. As the Modi government completed 100 days of its third term, the Congress party has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. On September 16, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate highlighted the government's shortcomings, calling these 100 days a period of crisis for India's institutions. She stated, "In these 100 days, the Modi government has turned into a U-turn government."

Rising terrorism and paper leaks

Supriya Shrinate expressed grave concern over the increase in terrorist attacks in Kashmir during the government's initial 100 days. She also pointed out the recurring issue of examination paper leaks, including the NEET paper, which has jeopardised the future of countless students. Shrinate further accused the government of undermining the credibility of SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) to benefit Prime Minister Modi's close associate, Adani. According to Shrinate, Modi has yet to present any concrete solutions to the nation’s pressing issues.

U-turns on key policies

The Congress spokesperson also criticised the government for its multiple policy reversals, alleging that opposition pressure forced these U-turns. She cited instances where the government backtracked on major issues, including lateral entry, the Waqf Board Bill, the Broadcast Bill, indexation benefits, and the NPS to UPS reforms. Shrinate further noted that in just 100 days, there have been 38 railway accidents, leading to 21 deaths, while the Railway Minister dismissed these tragedies as "minor incidents."

Infrastructure failures and targeted attacks

Shrinate emphasised the crumbling state of national infrastructure, highlighting bridge collapses, water leaks inside Parliament, and cracks in the Atal and Sudarshan bridges. She also condemned the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statue and the deterioration of Lord Ram’s temple. In Jammu and Kashmir, 26 terrorist attacks were reported, resulting in the deaths of 21 soldiers and 15 civilians. Shrinate warned that Jammu is now facing more attacks than Kashmir.

Controversial remarks on Ravneet Bittu

Shrinate also launched a personal attack on BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu, labelling him a "terrorist." She stated, “The dangerous language being used in the democratic system is alarming. These hateful people are the real terrorists. It is unacceptable for anyone to make violent remarks against the Leader of the Opposition in a democracy.”
