Rs 65 crore deducted from Congress account: Congress launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of orchestrating a calculated financial heist. The outrage stemmmed from the revelation that a staggering amount of Rs 65.89 crore was deducted from the accounts of the Indian Youth Congress and National Students' Union of India (NSUI). Congress contended that this substantial deduction was a deliberate attempt to undermine the party financially before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

BJP Accused of Embezzlement

The incensed response from Congress leader KC Venugopal followed the Income Tax Department's deduction from the party's bank account. Venugopal unequivocally alleged that the BJP was pilfering funds from Congress' bank accounts. He contrasted this audacious act with Congress' conduct during its tenure in power, asserting that such underhanded tactics were never employed against the BJP.

Strong Rebuke from Congress Leaders

KC Venugopal's censure of the BJP extended to questioning their integrity, highlighting that BJP, as a political entity, has evaded income tax obligations. He challenged the BJP to refute any instances where Congress resorted to similar tactics during their rule. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge echoed these sentiments on social media, condemning the Modi government's authoritarian tactics as an assault on democracy.

Modi Government Under Fire

Mallikarjun Kharge's denunciation characterized the Modi government as intoxicated with power, orchestrating a systemic erosion of democratic principles through extortion and financial coercion. Kharge alleged that the Modi government, in a bid to stifle political opposition, facilitated the surreptitious transfer of Congress' donations from nationalized banks, subsequently confiscating the funds through income tax deductions.

Challenges Ahead

The accusations levelled by Congress against the BJP underscore the heightened political tensions in the run-up to the forthcoming elections. As the battle lines are drawn, the dispute over financial matters adds another layer of contention to an already fiercely contested political landscape. Congress asserts its determination to fight against what it perceives as a flagrant abuse of power and a threat to democratic norms.
