Dark-skinned and dead: Daughter-in-law's desperate leap into death

karnataka: A 24-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in Karnataka's Gadak district after being ridiculed by her in-laws four months into the marriage, police reported on Sunday. The woman was ridiculed by her mother-in-law and brother-in-law for her complexion, the police said. The victim woman hailed from Ballari in Karnataka. The victim, Pooja Ayyanagoudar, was wedded to Amresh four months ago. She is a resident of Sharanbasaveshwara Nagar, Betgeri-Gadag. 

Parents registered a complaint on Saturday

In this entire case, the district SP, Nimagouda, mentioned that the woman was teased by her mother-in-law and brother-in-law for her dark complexion. Because of this reason, the woman was mentally upset. On April 15, she killed herself by hanging at her in-laws' residence. Then his parents registered a complaint on Saturday.

Mother-in-law and brother-in-law arrested

The parents of the woman, as per the district SP,
had complained in the complaint that their daughter was psychologically harassed and insulted by her brother-in-law Veeranagouda and mother-in-law Sasikala. On a complaint from the parents of the woman, her mother-in-law Sasikala and brother-in-law Veeranagouda were arrested and sent to judicial custody.
