CM Arvind Kejriwal to surrender on June 2 in Delhi Excise policy case

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi will surrender on June 2 as directed by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case. Notably, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday reserved the order on the interim bail plea moved by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal citing medical reasons which will now be heard on June 5 in connection with the Delhi Excise policy case.

ED opposed the bail plea

During the hearing on Saturday, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), stated that Arvind Kejriwal withheld information about his medical issues among other things. The lawyers for the ED said during the preliminary arguments that they would also object to the filing of interim bail. "The Supreme Court's order cannot be changed by this court. The

ED attorneys argued that the client is requesting an extension of the Supreme Court ruling, which put him on temporary bail because the SC allowed it,” the ED lawyers said.

Additionally, ED argued that he was traveling across rather than undergoing a medical examination and highlighted maintainability concerns with the temporary bail request. It would take more than an hour for medical testing.

Kejriwal led AAP PAC meet

According to the sources, ministers from the AAP Delhi government and members of its PAC attended the meeting, which was held at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's home on the eve of his surrender to Tihar Jail authorities at the end of his interim bail, which was granted to enable him to campaign in the General Elections.

The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting on Saturday was centered on the Lok Sabha results and their potential implications for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Meanwhile, Kejriwal is also likely to hold a similar organizational meeting with the elected members, including MLAs and councilors on Sunday. He will also visit the Rajghat and Hanuman temple in Connaught Place.
