New Delhi: Seema Kashyap, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi, is facing intense pressure to convert back to Islam after having previously embraced Hinduism. Kashyap alleges that she is being coerced into converting her husband and child to Islam by undergoing circumcision, with threats of abandonment if she fails to comply. The situation has escalated to the point where Kashyap and her family have been on a hunger strike in Lucknow, seeking intervention from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Seema Kashyap, who initially converted to Islam and later chose Hinduism, is now at the center of a heated dispute. She claims that her former associates, including Anwar Mansuri, Nizamuddin Mansuri, Monu Mansuri, Junaid Mansuri, Santosh Nagar, and Veeru Nagar, are pressuring her to revert to Islam. According to Kashyap, these individuals are demanding that her husband and son undergo circumcision as part of the conversion process. Failing this, she faces threats of separation from her family.
In response to the threats, Kashyap, along with her husband and child, has been staging a hunger strike at Eco Garden in Lucknow, appealing directly to CM Yogi Adityanath for justice. She has accused local police of siding with the alleged perpetrators and dismissing her claims as fabricated. The police, however, contend that the dispute is related to a rental disagreement over a shop.
Nizamuddin Mansuri, one of the accused, disputes Kashyap’s allegations, stating that the conflict began three years ago when her husband, Nirbhay Kashyap, allegedly failed to pay rent for a shop and refused to vacate it. According to the Madhoganj police station in-charge, the issue is a matter of legal contention regarding the shop rental, and they have taken appropriate action against both parties.
