Varanasi: Youth Congress’s National Secretary, Roshni Kushal Jaiswal, released a tearful video on the official Youth Congress X handle, seeking help while alleging targeted harassment by the district administration and the Uttar Pradesh government. Her emotional appeal follows the police affixing a property attachment notice to her residence on Friday afternoon.

In her video statement, Jaiswal, visibly distressed, shared her plight. “I am Roshni Kushal Jaiswal, the same person who slapped BJP supporter Rajesh Singh on September 15 after he threatened me with rape. Since then, numerous charges have been pressed against me, and I’ve been on the run for 40 days. Now, the court has ordered the attachment of my property for merely slapping someone who threatened me. Is it so wrong to protect one’s dignity that my family should be devastated?”

Sarcastic message to women facing threats

Jaiswal continued with a strong sarcastic message for other women, cautioning them against raising their voices. “To every woman out there, I humbly request—if you are facing threats, especially rape threats, don’t raise your voice. Just ask your family to wear bangles and sit quietly. If you stand up, you may end up in jail.”

Plea for justice

In her video, Jaiswal urged viewers to examine her social media profile, saying, “I only slapped him once. My husband didn’t even raise his hand. Is this justice for me? I’ve been running for 40 days with my nine-year-old son. Please, help me.” The incident traces back to September 15 in Varanasi’s Premchandra Nagar Colony, where a dispute led Jaiswal to slap BJP supporter Rajesh Singh, following which she was booked under multiple sections by the police.
