New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar asserted India's robust response to the "exceptionally difficult" challenges along the northern borders in the last three years. Speaking at FICCI, he highlighted the resolute approach in the face of the prolonged border row with China in eastern Ladakh.

Jaishankar defended India's energy procurement decisions, emphasizing that national interests guide choices. He referenced the continued purchase of crude oil from Russia despite external pressures, asserting that India's energy choices prioritize its own needs over external political considerations.
Discussing India's growth story, Jaishankar acknowledged the country's position as a strong area of growth globally. He outlined the vision of "Vikshit Bharat" — a roadmap to transform India into a developed country in the next 25 years. While significant progress has been made, he stressed the need for continued ambition and achievement.
Jaishankar characterized the last five years as globally traumatic, citing the COVID-19 shock, developments in Afghanistan, the Ukraine conflict, Middle-East violence, and the US-China competition. He noted the increasing insecurity and protectionism worldwide, emphasizing the need for fair trading rules and strategic autonomy.
Addressing industry leaders, Jaishankar highlighted their role as "builders of national strength." He urged big businesses to contribute to building Indian supply chains, emphasizing that a strong country requires self-sufficiency in basic requirements and a robust industrial foundation.
