Air India has come under fire after a Calicut-Mumbai bound flyer, Veera Jain, alleged being served a vegetarian in-flight meal that inexplicably contained chicken pieces on January 8th. Passenger loses trust in airline foodVenting on social media, a dismayed Jain said that between extremely delayed flights and now contaminated meals, the incidents have destroyed her faith in airline food.Though acknowledging the cabin crews apology, she criticised the lack of proactive information to other vegetarian diners. She also added that similar complaints were also received from other passengers on the flight.“I would suggest everyone- Please check thoroughly what you consume on a flight. After two extremely delayed flights (Mum-Kozhikode on 4th Jan and return on 8th Jan) and nonveg served, I have lost trust in all of the airline food now,” Jain wrote on XOn my @airindia flight AI582, I was served a veg meal with chicken pieces in it! I boarded the flight from Calicut airport. This was a flight that was supposed to take off at 18:40PM but left the airport at 19:40PM.Details-AI582PNR- 6NZK9RSeats- 10E, 10F#AirIndia pic.twitter.com/LlyK6ywleB— Veera Jain (@VeeraJain) January 9, 2024Seeks accountability for hurting sentimentsJain had shared her flight details on the X post, to which the airlines suggested that she take down the post detailing flight credentials and share them in a personal message in order to avoid misuse. With religious beliefs at stake, Jain dismissed Air Indias apology via private message as insufficient accountability toward hurting sentiments over something as serious as dietary preferences.“For the issue raised, they have only given me apologies via DM. I dont understand how they do not realise that this is a case of hurting sentiments. Imagine not making the payment right when booking their flight and later just apologizing for it continuously, she said. She argued the oversight was as unacceptable as a ticket booking error where remorse held no meaning without corrective action.Repeated service lapses highlightedCiting her past flight delays on the same airline, the Jain highlighted recurrent service failures, urging all travellers to meticulously inspect airline food before eating as trust stands eroded.
