Chhindwara Mass Murder: Man kills eight family members with axe, commits suicide later

A horrific episode of mass killing has surfaced from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara, which has sent shock waves among people. A man has murdered eight family members with an axe before committing suicide.

According to the sources, the man brutally murdered his parents, wife, children and siblings with an axe. After committing the murder, he committed suicide by hanging himself. This incident happened in Bodal Kachhar village under Mahuljhir police station, a tribal-dominated area.

The painful incident happened between 2 and 3 am. Soon after getting the information about the incident, Mahuljhir police reached the spot and sealed the entire village. The Superintendent of Police of Chhindwara also reached the spot for further investigation. According to the police, the accused is said to be mentally ill. Interim investigation also reveals that he was addicted to some narcotic substances.

Police suspect that the family got involved in some argument before the incident happened; however, the reason behind the horrific incident will be disclosed only after the investigation. Police have recovered an axe from the spot.

One child managed to survive

According to the reports, one child of the family managed to escape the attack and informed the local authorities about it. This child is said to be the nephew of the accused. All the members of the family resided in the adjacent houses. They all were found dead when police reached the spot. Bodies have been sent for postmortem.

As per SP Manish Khatri, the accused got married recently on May 21. He first slit his wife's throat and then killed his mother (55), brother (35), sister-in-law (30), sister (16), nephew (5), and two nieces (4 and 1.5 years old). This tragic incident has created panic in the area. Police are investigating the case thoroughly to find out the reason behind the incident.
