A day after 26 opposition parties chose I.N.D.I.A as its name and ‘Jeetaga Bharat’ as its tagline of the coalition government that aims to take on BJP in the 2024 general elections. Notably, the name I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance) was finalised at the two-day mega opposition meet that concluded on July 18 in Bengaluru.

BJP and its NDA partners on Tuesday hit out at the opposition parties, saying that giving a new name won’t change their character, and added that the 2024 battle is going to be ‘Bharat Mata and INDIA.’

The statement came after 26 opposition parties announced their coalition, Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to unitedly take on the ruling NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asserting that the fight will be between ‘INDIA and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’.

Alliance is a joke: Amit Malviya

Meanwhile, BJP’s IT department head, Amit Malviya said that ‘Character doesn’t change by changing names.’ Taking it to twitter, Malviya wrote, “National Democratic Alliance was founded in 1998. 25 years later, on a day, an expanded, stronger, NDA is meeting, the UPA had to kill its existence and acquire a new identity, even when those, who are part of the ‘new’ alliance, haven’t changed…”

Taking a jibe at the opposition parties’ meet, he further said, “Opposition camp is a circus. Every party is planting news with the media on how their leader had a role in the new name. RJD upstaged the formal announcement and tweeted, to find later that the name had been changed. There is also a rush to take credit for who bought AAP and Congress together, Nitish or Mamata? If this is the extent of credit seeking, imagine the rent-seeking, if they ever came to power. This alliance is a joke!”

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal founder and former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha said in a tweet, “Now it will work – Bharat Mata vs INDIA. Our country – Bharat Mata, whose children fill the lap of Mother India with their hard-earned money. INDIA, where the Gitpiya people fill their coffers by sucking the blood of the poor by tearing even the lap of the mother.”
