Uttar Pradesh: In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the atmosphere on the occasion of Eid deteriorated when two groups of the Muslim community clashed after prayers. The matter escalated so much that there was a lot of sticks between the two sides, there was fierce stone pelting and chaos. Several people, including some women, have been injured in the violence. There have also been reports of firing.

On receiving information about the incident, the police force reached the spot and controlled the situation. The incident took place in Siwal Khas area where people had gathered at the graveyard after Eid prayers. Meanwhile, the already ongoing dispute between the two groups took a violent form and violence erupted.

Why did violence erupt after Eid prayers?

According to the information received, after Eid prayers in Siwal Khas, people of Niyat and Badam families reached the cemetery to read Fatiya. During this time, there was an argument between the two sides over an old dispute, which soon turned into a fight.

Some people came from their houses with sticks and attacked each other. During this, there was fierce stone pelting and many people were badly injured. During the quarrel, some people also opened fire, which spread panic in the area. 

Many people injured in the incident, police took charge

According to eyewitnesses, more than half a dozen people were injured in the scuffle and have been admitted to the hospital. Heavy police force has been deployed at the spot to calm the situation. Police say that strict action will be taken against the culprits and identify them.

Heated argument with police in Eidgah, stopped from offering namaz on the road

Earlier, there was a scuffle between the police and the worshippers at the Shahi Idgah in Meerut. When the Eidgah ground was completely filled, the police barricaded it and stopped them from offering namaz on the road. The administration made an announcement appealing to the worshippers to cooperate, but some people remained adamant for prayers on the road.

To keep the situation under control, the police poured water from the fire brigade vehicle on the road, so that namaz could not be held on the road. The DM and SSP, who were present on the spot, appealed to maintain peace and kept the situation under control.

Meerut police on alert

Meerut Police has started investigating the entire case. Videos of the quarrel in Siwal Khas have also surfaced, on the basis of which the accused are being identified. The administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace and warned of strict action against those who vitiate the atmosphere.
