Chaos at Ahmedabad Rail Network: Bullet Train Site Accident Cancels 25 Trains

A sudden accident at the bullet train construction site near Ahmedabad has thrown the city’s rail network into disarray, with 25 trains cancelled and numerous others rescheduled. The mishap, which occurred earlier today, has left passengers stranded and authorities scrambling to restore order amidst the chaos.

Accident at Bullet Rrain Site Near Ahmedabad: An accident at the bullet train project site near Ahmedabad has caused massive trouble, leading to the cancellation of several trains. The segmental launching gantry used for the construction here accidentally slipped from its place and affected the nearby railway line, disrupting the movement of several trains. The National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation said that no casualties were reported in the incident, which took place at Vatva around 11 pm on Sunday, nor was there any damage to the structure.


At least 25 trains cancelled
However, the incident affected rail traffic, leading to the cancellation of at least 25 trains, while 15 others were partially cancelled, five rescheduled and six diverted. Railway officials said efforts were on to clear the railway track to facilitate movement of trains on the affected line. An NHSRCL official said restoration efforts were on with the help of road cranes.

The accident occured last night
A railway official said that due to the incident, several trains were either fully or partially cancelled and some were rescheduled. "On March 23, at around 11 pm, one of the segmental launching gantries used for viaduct construction at Vatva (near Ahmedabad) was retracting after completing the launching of a concrete girder. It accidentally slipped from its place," NHSRCL said in a statement.


Nearby railway lines affected
"This has affected the nearby railway line. Senior NHSRCL officials are already at the spot along with police and fire service officials and monitoring the situation. No casualties have been reported. There is no damage to the erected structure," he said. According to an Ahmedabad Railway Division official, the incident affected rail traffic on the down line between Vatva and Ahmedabad stations. So far, 25 trains have been fully cancelled, 15 partially cancelled, five rescheduled and six diverted, he said.

Cancelled Trains
The cancelled trains include Vatva-Borivali Express, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Express, Vadodara-Vatva Intercity, Ahmedabad-Valsad Gujarat Queen, Jamnagar-Vadodara Intercity, Vadnagar-Valsad-Vadnagar Express and Vatva-Anand MEMU. Ahmedabad-MGR Chennai Central Humsafar Express, Rajkot-Secunderabad Express and some other trains were rescheduled. Railway officials also released a helpline number for passengers.
