Gunfire led to this incident

Exploiting the slow speed of vehicles, the terrorists initiated indiscriminate gunfire to inflict maximum harm before retreating into dense foliage, taking advantage of the natural cover provided by the mountainous terrain. This tactic has become increasingly common in the Jammu region, posing a significant challenge to security forces. According to sources, the bus was targeted near a bend, consistent with the modus operandi observed in previous attacks. In this strategy, terrorists capitalize on the slow speed of approaching vehicles, launching indiscriminate attacks to maximize casualties before disappearing into the dense foliage.

NIA to assist local authorities

Security forces have responded swiftly, deploying 11 teams along different axes based on leads and inputs gathered. Additionally, efforts are underway to develop further leads actively. A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been dispatched to assist local authorities in the investigation of Sunday's terror attack. Security measures have been intensified in the area, with drones employed in the search for terrorists, and additional forces deployed from nearby combat outposts of the Indian Army.

Injured individuals were promptly evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment, with local authorities, including senior police officials and security forces, swiftly responding to the scene, securing the area, and initiating investigations.Mohammad Bhat, DIG Reasi Udhampur range, Rayees, also arrived at the scene on Sunday.
