In a bizarre turn of events in Sangli, Maharashtra, a group of thieves attempted a bold ATM heist using a stolen JCB machine. The entire incident, captured on CCTV, has quickly gone viral, leaving many in shock.

The criminals first stole a JCB machine that was parked near a petrol pump. They then used the heavy machinery to try and extract money from an Axis Bank ATM. The CCTV footage reveals the sequence of events, starting with a man entering and quickly exiting the ATM cabin. Moments later, the JCB machine is seen crashing through the glass doors, its massive bulldozer claws breaking open the ATM.

Failed heist leaves thieves empty-handed

Despite their efforts, the thieves failed to retrieve any money. Although they managed to dig out the nearly 700-kilogram steel ATM and damage its electrical connections, they were unable to access the cash inside. Reports suggest that the heist was foiled because the JCB got stuck in a pit, forcing the thieves to abandon both the machine and the ATM before fleeing the scene.

Midnight crime spurs police investigation

The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, April 24. Sangli police have launched a thorough investigation, with a special squad assigned to the case. Authorities have recovered both the JCB and the ATM, which contained ₹2.7 million in cash. Law enforcement agencies in Sangli and neighboring districts are actively searching for the culprits, with hopes that the gang will be apprehended soon.
