National News: The horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir has shocked the entire country. Soon after this attack, the central government has swung into action and an emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee (CCS) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started in Delhi. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior security officers are present in this important meeting.
Before the meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah visited Pahalgam and took stock of the situation there. After his return, a detailed report of the attack was shared in the meeting, which gave information on the reactions of the plans and security agencies behind the attack.
In the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs, Additional Home Minister, Defense Minister, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor are involved. Also, top officials like Cabinet Secretary and Defense Secretary may also attend the meeting as special invitee members.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh strongly condemned the attack, saying, "This cowardly act cannot break the unity of the country. The Indian government is adamant on its 'zero tolerance' policy against terrorism and the culprits will be punished under any circumstances." He also said that all the people who are involved in the conspiracy of this attack, even if they are behind the curtain, will be brought to the fore.
This meeting is considered to be important not only in the context of the Pahalgam attack but also for further strengthening the National Security Policy of India. It is believed that some tough and decisive decisions can be announced in the fight against terrorism after the meeting.
