The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently issued a stern warning against the proliferation of rumours and fake information regarding the upcoming Class 10 and 12 board exams. With the exams scheduled to commence from February 15, 2024, until April 2 for Class 12 and March 13 for Class 10, the board emphasizes the importance of combating misinformation to ensure a smooth and fair examination process.

Expressing concerns over the rampant spread of false news on various social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Telegram, CBSE has highlighted instances where individuals have been circulating fake information regarding paper leaks and counterfeit sample paper links. These misleading activities have caused unnecessary anxiety among students and parents, prompting CBSE to take decisive action.

The board has noted that some individuals are sharing fake links to sample papers, falsely claiming that questions will be based on them. Additionally, they are circulating fake pictures and videos of question papers, often demanding money for access to these fabricated materials. Such deceitful practices not only exploit vulnerable students and parents but also sow confusion and panic within the community.

In response to these malicious activities, CBSE reaffirms its commitment to combatting the dissemination of false information and rumours. Collaborating closely with law enforcement authorities, the board is taking stringent measures against those responsible for propagating misinformation, invoking relevant clauses of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act. Moreover, CBSE warns that students found spreading false information will face disciplinary action in accordance with the'Unfair Means' regulations and pertinent sections of the IPC.

Parents are urged to counsel their children against believing or participating in activities that disrupt the smooth conduct of examinations. CBSE emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant and advises students and parents to refrain from engaging with unverified news and rumours during the examination period.
