Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to commence the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for the 2024-25 academic year on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Over 42 lakh students will appear for the exams, which will be conducted across 7,842 centres in India and 26 international locations.

CBSE board exams 2025: Key statistics

  • Class 10 students: 24,12,072 (exam in 84 subjects)
  • Class 12 students: 17,88,165 (exam in 120 subjects)
  • Total students appearing: 42,00,237
  • Increase in students from last year: 3,14,695
  • Total subjects offered: 204
  • Total examination centres: 7,842
  • Total schools involved: Over 30,000
  • Total rooms required: 10,50,059

Exam schedule and guidelines

February 15:

  • Class 10: English (Communicative) and English (Language & Literature)
  • Class 12: Entrepreneurship
  • Exam Timings: 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM
  • Entry Restrictions: No entry after 10:00 AM; no early exit before 1:30 PM

Student guidelines:

  • Regular students: Must carry admit cards and school ID cards, and wear school uniforms.
  • Private students: Must present admit cards and a government-issued photo ID; light clothing allowed.
  • Prohibited items: No mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, wallets, handbags, or pouches inside exam centres.

Enhanced security with CCTV surveillance

To ensure fair examination practices, all exam centres will have CCTV surveillance.

  • Seating arrangement: 24 students per room with two invigilators.
  • CCTV monitoring: Assistant superintendents will oversee footage for every 10 rooms.
  • Strict penalties: Schools failing to provide CCTV footage upon request will be considered involved in unfair practices.

CBSE’s commitment to exam integrity

CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh emphasized the board’s commitment to fair and transparent exams, ensuring question papers’ secure transportation. Controller of Examination Sanyam Bhardwaj reiterated that any unfair practices would be strictly dealt with.

Mark verification & Re-evaluation process simplified

CBSE has introduced an updated marks verification system, allowing students to request photocopies of answer sheets before opting for verification or re-evaluation.
