New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated 20 individuals implicated in the NEET UG paper leak case at Beur Jail in Patna, Bihar, on Sunday. Among these, 13 were previously arrested by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police, and seven are currently under CBI remand.For the interrogation of the 13 accused, the CBI obtained special permission from the court. These 13 include six individuals alleged to be part of the exam mafia, four candidates, and three parents.Among those under CBIs remand, a journalist from a daily newspaper, Oasis School Principal Ehsanul Haque, and Vice Principal Imtiaz Alam were questioned. These individuals were brought from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, on charges of tampering with question papers. Cross-Examination and ContradictionsAfter recording the separate statements of Chintu, Mukesh, Manish, and Mukesh earlier, the CBI conducted face-to-face cross-examinations on Sunday, revealing several contradictions in their statements. The agency also scrutinised the bank details of Ehsanul Haque and reviewed call records of the three accused from Hazaribagh.Potential Transfer to DelhiSources indicate that the CBI may transfer the accused to Delhi for further interrogation following preliminary questioning. Meanwhile, other CBI teams are actively pursuing the arrest of the alleged NEET paper leak mastermind, Sanjeev Mukhiya.Masterminds IdentifiedDuring Saturdays interrogation, many of the accused named Sanjeev Mukhiya and Sikandar Yadvendu as key figures in the case. Mukhiya allegedly arranged accommodations for nearly 25 candidates at a boys hostel associated with the Learn Play School in Patna on May 4, the day before the NEET-UG exam. It is reported that the candidates received leaked question papers and answer sheets at this hostel.Mukhiyas son, Shiv, is already incarcerated for his involvement in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) teacher recruitment exam paper leak. Another prime suspect, Sikandar Yadvendu, a junior engineer at the Danapur municipal committee, is also implicated in the illegal distribution of NEET question papers, according to the EOUs investigation.
