New Delhi: In a swift operation, Gurugram Police apprehended a man running a sex racket through WhatsApp. The accused, identified as Babul Shaikh, was caught after police laid a trap, exposing his illicit activity.
Police investigation revealed Shaikh used WhatsApp to operate his racket. His phone served as a sinister directory, containing pictures and contact details of numerous women. This digital evidence provided a glimpse into the dark underbelly of this criminal enterprise.
Acting on a tip-off, authorities devised a plan to apprehend Shaikh. An undercover officer posed as a customer, contacting Shaikh via WhatsApp. The conversation unfolded as Shaikh sent photographs of multiple women, even negotiating their "rates." This exchange solidified the officer's suspicions and laid the groundwork for Shaikh's capture.
To net Shaikh, the undercover officer agreed to a deal for Rs. 8,000. A pre-determined location – a hotel on Old Railway Road – was set for the exchange. Unbeknownst to Shaikh, a police team awaited his arrival.
True to form, Shaikh arrived at the hotel with two women. As the undercover officer initiated the pre-arranged payment, police sprang into action, apprehending Shaikh and recovering the money. A search of his phone yielded further incriminating evidence – the aforementioned pictures of women.
Shaikh is currently under police interrogation, revealing details about his operation. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend his accomplice, Anoop.
