Canada will attend G20 Parliament speakers summit; Germany & Argentina are likely to skip

The Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla  has confirmed participation of Canada in the upcoming G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20)  will be take place in Delhi from October 12 to 14, On Friday After G20 Summit, New Delhi is set to host the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers Summit (P20).

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, “Within the G20, P20 is an engagement group headed by the Speakers of the G20 countries, and it aims to bring a parliamentary dimension to global governance.”

The Participation of Canada in the summit comes at a time when diplomatic ties between India and Canada have strained after Canadian Prime Minister’s statement alleging India’s link in the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Also according to the statement which is released by the Lok Sabha secretariat, Germany and Argentina will not be attending for event due to some “internal reasons”.
