Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took to Twitter to respond to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dig at the opposition alliance ‘INDIA’, saying that the Prime Minister may call the alliance ‘whatever’ he wants, but they will remain ‘INDIA’.
Rahul Gandhi also claimed that the opposition alliance will help the ethnic violence-hit Manipur in its healing process, and bring ‘love and peace’ back to the state.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Gandhi wrote, “Call us whatever you want, Mr. Modi. We are INDIA. We will help heal Manipur and wipe the tears of every woman and child. We will bring back love and peace for all her people. We will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur.”

We are INDIA.
We will help heal Manipur and wipe the tears of every woman and child. We will bring back love and peace for all her people.
We will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur.
Earlier at a BJP Parliamentary Party on Tuesday, the Prime Minister reportedly said that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance or ‘INDIA’ is the most ‘directionless’ political entity in the country, and compared it to reviled entities such as the East India Company and Indian Mujahideen.
“… As the Britishers came and named themselves East India Company, in the same way, the Opposition is presenting itself in the name of India,” PM Modi said in the meeting. “India was also in the name of Indian Mujahideen and PFI.”
“We are proud of our PM. We are coming back to power in 2024. PM Modi has given a statement that Indian National Congress, East India Company was founded by a foreign national. Today people are using names like Indian Mujahideen and Indian People’s Front. Something on face value could be different from something that is really true,” BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad told news agency ANI after the Parliamentary Party.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also hit back at the Prime Minister’s remarks, saying, “So many representatives are giving notices under [rule] 267 in Parliament. We [opposition] are talking about Manipur. Manipur is burning but the Prime Minister is talking about East India Company.”
