Vote counting for the seven assembly election in six states in being counted today, Septermber 8,for the voting that took place on September 5. As the opposition’s INDIA bloc tries to take on BJP in the coming Lok Sabha Elections of 2021, this election is seen as a litmus test to determine their hold stand in the upcoming general election.

The seven seats that went for the bypoll elections include Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, Puthuppally in Kerala, Dhupguri in West Bengal, Dumri in Jharkhand, and Boxanagar and Dhanpur in Tripura.

BJP held three of the seven seats in this election which are Dhanpur, Bageshwar, and Dhupguri while the seats in UP and Jharkhand were held by Samajwadi Party and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, respectively. Tripura’s Boxanagar seat and Kerala’s Puthupally were with the CPM and the Congress, respectively.

Bypoll results till now

The counting of votes has already begun at 8 a.m. and till now this is the result of the bypoll elections.

Uttarakhand

As of now the first round of counting has been conducted and Basant Kumar of Congress is leading in the Bageshwar assembly constituency in Uttarakhand with 2945 votes while BJP’s Parwati Dass (2191 votes) is in second place.

Kerala

In Kerala as per the initial trends, Congress’s Chandy Ommen is leading in Kerala’s Puthuppally constituency. CPIM’s Jaick C Thomas is in second place, and the BJP is in third place.

Boxnagar, Tripura

In the first round of counting, the BJP is leading in the Boxnagar assembly constituency in Tripura with BJP’s Tafajjal Hussain leading with 7706 votes while Mirzan Hussain of CPIM has 375 votes.

Dhanpur, Tripura

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in the Dhanpur assembly constituency after the first round of postal vote counting. BjP’s Bindu Debnath is in the lead with 5341 votes while

CPI-M’s Kaushik Debnath secured second place with 1276 votes.

West Bengal

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a lead in West Bengal’s Dhupguri after the first round counting of postal ballots. Tapasi Roy of BJP secured 418 votes, Nirmal Chandra Roy of Trinamool Congress stands second with 160 votes and Chandra Roy of CPIM-Congress alliance is third with 127 votes.

Uttar Pradesh

Samajwadi Party’s Sudhakar Singh is leading in Ghosi assembly seat with 3381 votes in the first round. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Dara Singh Chauhan is at second spot with 3203 votes.

Congress had extended its support to the SP candidate, while the BSP stayed away from the election

Jharkhand

Countings began in Jharkhand’s for Dumri assembly with a slight delay. The delay of around 10 minutes happened as official formalities took some time to complete amid heavy rains in the area.

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Yashoda Devi is leading in Jharkhand’s Dumri assembly constituency after first round of polling. She secured 4124 votes. Jharkhand’s Mukti Morcha’s Bebi Devi, who is the joint candidate INDIA bloc, is at second spot with 2859 votes.
