Indian burger chain Burger Singh found itself the target of a cyberattack by a Pakistani hacking group called Team Insane PK on February 27th. The hackers defaced the company's website in an audacious "surprise makeover" that Burger Singh addressed with humor and resilience in a public statement.

In a detailed post shared on social media, Burger Singh narrated how a past promotional code offering discounts to customers from Pakistan titled "Fpak20" had apparently provoked the hacking group to retaliate. "In retrospect, offering discounts with geopolitical flair is a gift that keeps giving," the company wryly noted about the promotion code.

According to Burger Singh, Team Insane PK has an impressive hacking resume, and their website became the group's latest addition. However, instead of immediately restoring their site, Burger Singh took an unusual approach. The company decided to keep the hacked website graffitied by the hackers for a day, calling it an "open mic night for hackers."

The statement conveyed Burger Singh's intent to take the cyber vandalism in stride. "It's our way of saying: Take a good look, folks. Inspiration strikes in the oddest of places," the company said, displaying remarkable calm and humor in response to the attack.

Burger Singh also reiterated its focus on future growth plans rather than get bogged down by the incident. "We're too busy dreaming up the next big thing that'll make Burger Singh larger than the GDP of some countries (no names mentioned, of course)," its statement added cheekily.

The company's viral social media post chronicling the unusual hacking episode drew widespread attention and engagement online. Burger Singh's composed, humorous response in the face of cyber sabotage earned the brand plaudits for creative crisis management.
