Price Reduction Across Major Cities

This price adjustment comes as the nation eagerly anticipates the Union Budget for 2025-26, marking the first budget under the Modi 3.0 government and the eighth for Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In Kolkata, the price of a 19 kg LPG cylinder has decreased from ₹1,911 to ₹1,904. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the current rate stands at ₹1,749, and in Chennai, it is priced at ₹1,959 according to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) website.

Context of Price Changes

This latest reduction follows a previous cut in commercial LPG prices on January 1. Additionally, there was a decrease in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices by 1.5%, bringing it down to ₹90,455.47 per kilolitre in Delhi. Commercial LPG is primarily utilized by hotels and restaurants and has experienced its first price drop after five consecutive increases.
