New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, an individual named Manoj Singh reportedly assured a young man of securing an IPS (Indian Police Service) position in exchange for a bribe of ₹2 lakh. According to sources, Singh confidently declared, "Give this boy ₹2 lakh, and he will become an IPS officer." Allegedly, the sum was paid, and in an unusual turn of events, Singh, who is purportedly a doctor, granted the youth a ward and a gun, stating, "From today, you are an IPS officer."

Peculiarity of the situation

What makes the situation even more peculiar is the sequence of events that followed. Once the alleged payment was made, Singh did not hesitate to take matters into his own hands. As per reports, he provided the young man with a ward—a term typically referring to a specific area of jurisdiction or a place of responsibility—and shockingly handed him a gun. This action was coupled with the proclamation, "From today, you are an IPS officer."

The young man, believing himself to be officially appointed, then proceeded to the police station, acting on the false impression of his new position. This incident has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the recruitment process and the widespread influence of bribery within crucial institutions.

Need for transparency and fairness

The public has expressed outrage over such unlawful practices, questioning how individuals without merit could potentially enter esteemed positions in law enforcement. Many have called for strict actions against the culprits involved in this scandal, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness in the recruitment of IPS officers.

As this alarming story unfolds, it brings to light the deep-rooted issues within recruitment systems, demanding immediate governmental intervention to restore public trust and uphold the standards of law enforcement.
