Jaipur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finally revealed the new face who will be serving as the new chief minister of Rajasthan on Tuesday. BJP has appointed Bhajan Lal Sharma who won in the Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023 from the Sanganer Assembly constituency in the recently concluded elections.

In the recent elections, he fought the electoral contest and won with a massive margin of 48,081 votes defeating Congress' Pushpendera Bharadwaj.

Meanwhile, it is also interesting to note that the announcement was made by Vasundhara Raje, who herself was among the contenders for the post of the Chief Minister of the state.

Apart from Raje, some other leaders who were also in the list as the key contenders to take over the state's apex political post included Arjun Ram Meghwal, Mahant Balaknath, Diya Kumari, Amit Bhandel and Manju Baghmar.

Bhajan Lal Sharma is the choice of observers

To oversee the unfolding developments in the recently acquired state, BJP's national president, JP Nadda, engaged in a telephonic discussion with the party's observers. He instructed them to gather feedback from the newly-elected MLAs and also guided them to consider the preferences of the MLAs in selecting the chief minister. The proposition for the chief ministerial role was put forth by the former chief minister, Vasundhara Raje.

The elections in Rajasthan marked a direct competition between the Congress led by Ashok Gehlot and the BJP in anticipation of the 2024 general elections. The BJP secured a victory over the Congress, claiming 115 out of 199 seats in the state Assembly.
