Summer has knocked prematurely in many parts of the country. According to the forecasts of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the havoc of heat and scorching temperatures can be seen from North India to Maharashtra in the coming days. According to the latest report of the Meteorological Department, states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir may record an increase of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in day temperature. At the same time, the period of scorching heat and dry winds will continue in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra.

IMD issues Heat Wave Alert

Heat wave conditions are expected especially in Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh, where maximum temperatures may reach 45 degrees Celsius. There are signs of rising mercury in Delhi-NCR as well and the effect of hot winds may intensify in the coming week.

Abnormal heat in Jammu and Kashmir too
The weather is also expected to be warmer than normal in hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir. Due to less snowfall in the valley, an unexpected increase in temperature is being seen, which can increase the water crisis in the hilly areas and the speed of melting of glaciers.

Be prepared for a heatwave
The IMD has warned of heatwave conditions in large parts of North India and Central India from the third week of April to the first week of May. Under this, people have been advised to avoid going out of the house between 12 noon and 4 pm, wear light and loose clothes, and drink plenty of water.

There is a possibility of a surge in demand for electricity and water
As the heat increases, the pressure on electricity and water supply may also increase. Especially in urban areas like Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur and Mumbai, the possibility of power cuts cannot be ruled out due to the increased use of air conditioning and cooling devices.

IMD's advice:
- Elderly people, children and heart patients need to take special precautions during heatwave.

- Government and private institutions have been recommended to provide flexibility in their working hours.

- Appeal to farmers to irrigate crops on time and adopt water conservation measures.
