Coldplay's much-anticipated return to India has sparked immense excitement, but it has also left many fans disappointed due to ticketing issues. As tickets for the band's "Music of the Spheres World Tour" went live on BookMyShow, fans experienced technical difficulties such as server crashes, long waiting times, and significant frustration. Adding to their woes was the rampant reselling of tickets at exorbitant prices on unauthorised platforms.

Despite overwhelming demand, BookMyShow’s platform faced severe traffic overload, causing major disruptions. On the day of the sale, an astounding 1.3 crore people attempted to access the platform, leading to widespread delays and many fans being unable to secure tickets.

Ticket reselling at inflated prices

To further aggravate matters, tickets were quickly resold on secondary platforms such as Viagogo and Gigsberg at highly inflated prices. While official ticket prices were set between ₹2,500 and ₹12,500, resellers were charging substantially more, leaving many fans feeling exploited.

BookMyShow responded by condemning ticket scalping and distancing itself from unauthorized resellers. The company urged fans to avoid purchasing tickets from these platforms, warning about counterfeit tickets and potential financial loss. They emphasized that only tickets bought through BookMyShow are legitimate.

Company files complaint against scalpers

In an effort to combat the issue, BookMyShow filed a police complaint and reinforced its commitment to tackling ticket scalping. The company reassured fans that they are taking necessary actions to prevent further resale incidents and advised caution when purchasing tickets.

Coldplay's India concerts are scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21 in Mumbai, marking their return to India after eight years. The British band, led by Chris Martin, last performed in the country during the Global Citizen Festival in 2016.
