Tensions ran high at educational institutions across Tamil Nadu on Monday as two schools faced the unsettling prospect of bomb threats, sparking fear among students, faculty, and parents alike. The targets of these alarming threats were the PSBB Millennium School in Coimbatore and a private school in the Kancheepuram district.
The private school in Coimbatore received an ominous email on Sunday night, while the other institution fell victim to a hoax call early on Monday morning. Authorities swiftly responded, classifying both incidents as hoaxes, but the initial panic was palpable.
Wasting no time, law enforcement officials and bomb squad teams descended upon the PSBB Millennium School after receiving the intelligence. A report by India Today highlighted their immediate investigation into the matter. However, despite their thorough efforts, no explosive devices have been uncovered within the school premises thus far.
With ongoing examinations for class 11 students, the police have taken the prudent step of bolstering security measures near the affected schools. The authorities have made it clear that strict security checks will be in place, prohibiting entry to the premises without proper clearance, ensuring the safety of all those involved.
This incident follows a similar pattern that unfolded in Chennai on February 8, where several educational institutions, including DAV in Gopalapuram, Chettinad Vidyashram in RA Puram, Chennai Public School in Anna Nagar and JJ Nagar, and St Marys' School in Parrys, received bomb threats. Bomb detection and disposal teams were promptly mobilized to search the premises, but these threats were ultimately confirmed to be hoaxes as well.
