Goods train carrying steel coils derails in Bokaro (ANI)
Bokaro train derail: Rail operations were severely disrupted late Wednesday night after a goods train carrying steel coils from Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) derailed between Tupkadih and Rajabera in Bokaro District, Jharkhand. Two wagons overturned, causing the train to detach into two parts. The derailment occurred near the northern cabin yard of Tupkadih station, which falls under the Adra Railway Division of South Eastern Railway (SER).
The incident has brought rail movement on the down line to a halt, with all train services on that track temporarily suspended. A 15-member team from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Bokaro is present at the site, overseeing the situation and assisting with recovery efforts.
The cause of the derailment is yet to be determined, and an investigation has been launched to uncover the reasons behind the accident. Authorities are working on clearing the tracks to restore normal rail operations. The train, which was headed towards Bahadurgarh, faced the mishap while carrying steel coils from the Bokaro Steel Plant.
RPF Bokaro has confirmed that efforts to clear the wreckage are currently underway, with workers focusing on ensuring that the affected area is made safe for the resumption of train movement as soon as possible.
The derailment has resulted in major delays, affecting both passenger and goods trains operating through this critical section of the South Eastern Railway. Officials have not yet provided an estimated timeline for when rail services will resume on the downline.
As investigations proceed, authorities are trying to determine if any technical failure or track-related issue caused the derailment. Meanwhile, recovery teams continue their efforts to clear the damaged wagons and restore rail operations.
