The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Minority Morcha is all set to meet in Delhi on Thursday to discuss and review its preparation for its flagship Pasmanda outreach community scheduled for 2024.

“BJP’s Minority Morcha head, Jamal Siddiqui, will be chairing the meeting at the party headquarters around 11 am on Thursday, which will be attended by presidents and the general secretaries of all the states,” a statement by the BJP Minority Morcha said.

“The meeting is aimed to fine-tune the ongoing preparation for ‘Pasmanda Samaj Sneh Samvad’ – an outreach program to further strengthen the connection with the Pasmanda community.”

Minority community in-charges from each state will bring at least five representatives with them to attend the meeting, the Minority Morcha said.

BJP Minority Morcha to conduct Pasmanda outreach programme in 2024

The BJP’s minority wing is preparing to hold a community outreach programme – titled Pasmanda Samaj Sneh Samvad – to ‘dispel misinformation around the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), BJP leaders have pointed out to ANI.

The event – which will take place before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections – will be an attempt by BJP to showcase the ruling party’s inclusive welfare programmes. The leaders will look to engage with members of the Pasmanda Muslim community to hear the problems faced by them, increase the community’s representation in government offices, and get them to join the BJP, EconomicTimes quoted a senior BJP functionary.

The Pasmanda Muslims represent the Dalit Muslims (Arzals) and the backward-caste Muslims (Ajlafs), which count for nearly 80% of Indian Muslims. They have long accused the Ashraaf (upper-case Muslims) community of discrimination and exploitation.

The leaders of the Pasmanda community have said that the upper-caste Muslims have imposed Urdu on them, and cornered all the facilities that Muslims as minorities have received from the government, as per news portal Awaz-the Voice.
