BJP vs BJP in Karnataka: In a bombshell revelation, Karnataka BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has shaken the political landscape by accusing the former BJP-led regime, headed by Yediyurappa, of a staggering Rs 40,000 crore scam during the Covid-19 pandemic. The startling allegations suggest overbilling for rented beds and exorbitant charges for Covid patients, adding fuel to the ongoing political fire.

Corruption Unveiled: Overbilling and Exorbitant Charges

Yatnal's scathing attack alleges that the previous BJP government, under Yediyurappa's leadership, engaged in widespread corruption by inflating costs, charging a jaw-dropping Rs 485 for a mask that costs Rs 45. The BJP leader asserted that the government was billed Rs 8-10 lakhs for a single Covid patient, pointing to a colossal scam totalling Rs 40,000 crores.

Congress Responds: BJP Operates as a "40 Per Cent Commission Government"

Responding to the explosive accusations, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condemned the BJP government, claiming that the revelations expose a pattern of operating as a "40 per cent commission government." Siddaramaiah, armed with supporting documents, reiterated previous corruption allegations and questioned the conspicuous silence of BJP leaders in the face of these severe charges.

Silence Speaks Volumes: BJP Leaders Under Scrutiny

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted the silence of BJP leaders in the state, challenging them to address the serious accusations. The apparent lack of response from the BJP ministers, who vehemently defended against earlier corruption claims, is now raising eyebrows, leaving many questioning the integrity of the previous administration.

Call for Transparency: Documents to be Submitted to Inquiry Commission

Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has called for transparency in the face of these damning allegations. He demanded that the supporting documents be made public or submitted to the inquiry commission, led by Justice Michael and formed by the Karnataka government to investigate alleged Covid-19 scams during the previous BJP regime. Kharge emphasised that the purported corruption of Rs 40,000 crores involves BJP leaders at the centre as well.

The political landscape in Karnataka is witnessing a seismic shift as these revelations unfold, prompting demands for accountability, transparency, and a thorough investigation into the alleged Covid scam.
