BJP vs BJP in Karnataka: A startling revelation by Karnataka BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, alleging a Rs 40,000 crore embezzlement by former CM BS Yediyurappa during the Covid-19 pandemic, has triggered a scathing response from Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. The Congress MP and General Secretary in charge of Communications accused the BJP of profiting over the dead.

Allegations of a Massive Scam Unearthed

Yatnal, a former Union Minister and current BJP MLA in Karnataka, claimed to possess documents related to a Covid-19 scam amounting to Rs 40,000 crores, implicating the then CM and current BJP Parliamentary Board Member, BS Yediyurappa.

Jairam Ramesh condemned the incident as horrific and utterly shameful, suggesting it exposed the scale of scams undertaken by BJP governments nationwide.

Political Fallout: Warning of Exposing Irregularities

Earlier, BJP leader Yatnal warned that he would expose further irregularities if expelled from the party. He accused the Yediyurappa government of embezzling 40,000 crores during the first wave of the coronavirus, shedding light on what he perceives as a pattern of corruption within BJP governments over the past decade.

Congress Rebuke: A Pattern of Scams Unveiled

Jairam Ramesh went on to rebuke Prime Minister Modi, accusing him of controlling the mainstream media and undermining independent institutions.

He remarked, "By undermining independent institutions and with a tight-fisted control over mainstream media, the PM has turned 'Na khaaonga na khaane doonga' into khaaonga aur khilaoonga, lekin dikhai nahi dega."

Counter Allegations: Thieves are Thieves, Regardless of the Government

Vijayapur BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal asserted, "It was our government; it doesn't matter whose government was in power; thieves are thieves."

Responding to the BJP MLA's allegations, CM Siddaramaiah claimed that Yatnal's revelation further supported their earlier accusation that the BJP government was a '40 per cent commission government.'

Unfolding Political Drama: Questions Raised on Corruption Scale

Siddaramaiah questioned the whereabouts of the BJP ministers who vehemently opposed earlier accusations, suggesting that Yatnal's claims hint at corruption levels ten times higher than initially estimated. The political fallout continues as allegations and counter-allegations contribute to the mounting tensions between the Congress and BJP in Karnataka.
