The meeting will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all party MPs as well. The important job of selecting potential chief ministerial candidates to head new governments for the next five years falls to the BJP.
The BJP tsunami swept the assembly elections in the Hindi heartland on December 3, winning surprising mandates in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. The assembly poll results did not just stump their rivals but also the expert pollsters who predicted a two-way battle in three states.
After losing in four states, importantly in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, the Congress's aspirations for 2024 were severely damaged, as it failed to gain the faith of voters in a large portion of the Hindi heartland.
On the other hand, the BJP won a commanding mandate of 163 seats in Madhya Pradesh, as they have been fighting for nearly 20 years of incumbency, while the formidable opposition finished on 66 seats.
The BJP is likely to assume the government after winning 115 seats in Rajasthan, and the Congress following behind with 69 seats. The vote total in the state presented a far different picture than what some pollsters had expected.
Meanwhile, the BJP won 54 seats while the Congress won 35 of Chhattisgarh's 90 assembly seats.
