BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance: In a strategic move ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, both Maharashtra and Karnataka have finalized their seat-sharing arrangements, marking crucial developments in the political landscape.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra is poised to contest approximately 32 to 33 Lok Sabha seats, while the Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction eyes around 11 to 12 seats. Concurrently, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), under Ajit Pawar's leadership, anticipates securing 4 to 5 seats.
Additionally, there are speculations that Shiv Sena might reserve one of its seats for a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate. Moreover, there's a likelihood that some MPs from the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena might contest on the BJP ticket.
In Karnataka, the BJP is gearing up to contest elections on 25 seats. A decision has been made to allocate 3 seats to the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS), with Mandya, Hassan, and Kolar being the proposed constituencies. However, JDS is advocating for 4 seats, particularly pushing for a candidate in Chamarajanagar. Official announcements regarding these allocations are expected imminently.
Furthermore, notable is the decision of four current BJP MPs from Karnataka, including Shivkumar Udasi, BN Bachhegowda, Srinivas Prasad, and GS Basavaraj, not to contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP's core group meeting, spanning six hours, was dedicated to strategizing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Discussions revolved around finalizing the second list comprising approximately 150 seats, set to be concluded by March 10. Noteworthy mentions include Piyush Goyal's candidacy for North Mumbai in Maharashtra and Dharmendra Pradhan's potential candidacy for Sambalpur in Odisha.
Moreover, the BJP plans to contest all 10 seats in Haryana independently. Key figures present at the meeting included Home Minister Amit Shah and National President JP Nadda, along with state representatives from various regions, indicating the significance and scale of the discussions.
The political landscape is witnessing dynamic shifts and strategic maneuvers as parties gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Stay tuned for further updates as the electoral narrative unfolds.
