National News: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears to be moving closer to appointing its new national president, with high-level discussions between party and RSS leadership intensifying. Though an official announcement is still a few weeks away, internal deliberations have reached a crucial phase. Party insiders suggest that the new president could be declared within the next fortnight.
Key figures from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), including Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, are scheduled to be in Delhi this week. Their visit is seen as a significant step toward finalizing major changes in BJP’s central leadership and organization.
Reliable sources indicate that the process to formally elect the new national president will begin once the appointment of state unit presidents is completed in five to six major states. These include Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Jharkhand—states where leadership changes are expected to wrap up this week. Once these are finalized, the RSS and BJP leadership will jointly decide on the national-level appointment.
Alongside the appointment of a new president, the BJP is also preparing for a wide-scale restructuring of its organization. Several names from both government and party ranks are being considered—leaders with the ability to shape the party’s future direction and strengthen its electoral strategy. There is a strong push to select a candidate who brings both experience and strategic depth to the role.
Significant changes are also anticipated in other key organizational roles, particularly at the general secretary and secretary levels. The RSS and BJP have been engaged in ongoing discussions regarding these positions, and decisions could be finalized this week.
To address a shortage of organizational ministers in various regions, the RSS has reportedly approved the deployment of full-time pracharaks (campaign workers) after a long interval. Around six such functionaries are expected to be appointed as state-level organizational ministers to strengthen the party’s grassroots framework.
