A shocking incident unfolded in Maharashtra's Ulhasnagar as Shiv Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad was allegedly shot by BJP MLA Ganesh Gaikwad inside the Hill Line police station. The incident occurred late on Friday during a complaint filing over a land dispute.
The confrontation escalated inside the Hill Line police station's cabin, where both politicians and their supporters had gathered. An argument ensued, leading BJP MLA Ganesh Gaikwad to reportedly fire four rounds at Shiv Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad. The incident also resulted in injuries to Shiv Sena MLA Rahul Patil. Both injured leaders are currently receiving treatment at Jupiter Hospital in Thane.
Arrest and Seizure
In the aftermath of the shooting, Ganesh Gaikwad has been arrested and taken into police custody. Authorities have also seized the firearm used in the incident.
Initially admitted to Mira Hospital in Ulhasnagar, Mahesh Gaikwad's critical condition prompted a shift to Jupiter Hospital in Thane.
Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey, commenting on the incident, alleged that "Maharashtra is being turned into a jungle raj." In response, Ganesh Gaikwad, while speaking to a news channel, stated that he would accept whatever decision the court takes on the incident. He went on to level corruption charges against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, claiming an increase in crime under Shinde's governance. Gaikwad also alleged that Shinde would "betray" the BJP.
