The BJP’s state unit in Mizoram has demanded that President’s Rule be imposed on neighbouring Manipur, which is reeling under ethnic violence for two months. More than 100 people have lost their lives in Manipur, where the majority of Meitei groups have clashed with the minority Kuki-Zo tribes.
The BJP Mizoram Scheduled Tribe Morcha, on Monday, posted a message on Twitter with banners that demanded the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, the immediate cessation of ethnic violence, and separate administration for the Kuki-Zo tribes.

In the banners displayed, they criticized the burning of churches and the targeting of the Christian-majority tribal communities in Manipur by the majority Meitei groups.
The latest demand from the BJP’s Mizoram unit came after K. Vanlalvena, a BJP MP from Mizoram, echoed similar demands in the Rajya Sabha on June 19. Criticizing the BJP-led N Biren Singh’s government at help for its supposed failure in preventing violence in the state, Vanlalvena demanded that the elected government be dissolved and President’s Rule be imposed.
The imposition of President’s Rule, according to Vanlalvena, will allow the central forces to assist Manipur Police to contain the violence and arrest the miscreants.
NE contributes only 4% of India's population. Some politicians from Delhi do not care our sufferings, they dont care who will be the winner, just wish to see our fighting.
