New Delhi: A disturbing video from a police station in Buldana, Maharashtra, showing BJP leader Shiv Tayde assaulting a woman from Uttar Pradesh, has caused widespread outrage. The footage, which shows the attack occurring openly in the presence of police officers, has gone viral, prompting fierce criticism from opposition parties.

Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray faction spokesperson, Sushma Andhare, shared the video on her social media account, questioning Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the state's law and order situation.

Opposition demands action

The incident has sparked a political firestorm, with opposition leaders demanding swift legal action against Shiv Tayde, who is the chairman of the Malkapur Krishi Samiti. Alongside Andhare, other prominent figures, including MP Supriya Sule, Congress leader and lawyer Yashomathy Thakur, and Shiv Sena leader Ajit Thackeray, have voiced their condemnation. They have urged the ruling government to take immediate steps to address the issue and ensure justice for the victim.

Suddenly, Shiv Tayde enters the scene and begins assaulting the woman without provocation. Despite the police being present, Tayde continues the attack until officers intervene. When the man accompanying the woman attempts to intervene, Tayde turns his aggression toward him. Another woman eventually arrives and escorts the victim inside the police station.

In another video clip, Tayde is seen negotiating a compromise with the woman, facilitated by the police. However, when he notices someone filming the interaction, he becomes agitated, aggressively confronting the person capturing the video.

Political repercussions

The attack has raised serious questions about the safety of citizens and the accountability of political figures. In her tweet, Sushma Andhare demanded answers from Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, highlighting the need for urgent reforms in the state's law enforcement protocols. The incident has also intensified scrutiny on the relationship between Tayde and the couple, though details remain unclear.
