Rahul Gandhi’s criticizes NDA’s policies on J&K security

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, condemned the Narendra Modi government on Friday, expressing his discontent over the recent rise in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Posting in Hindi on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi asserted that the NDA government's policies have failed to bring security and stability to the region.

“The news of the martyrdom of our brave soldiers in the cowardly attack on an army vehicle in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir is extremely sad. Two porters also lost their lives in the attack. I pay my tribute to the martyrs and express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families,” Rahul Gandhi wrote in his post.

He continued, “The policies of the NDA government at the Centre have completely failed to establish security and peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Contrary to their claims, the reality is that the state is living under the shadow of danger due to continuous terrorist activities, attacks on our soldiers, and targeted killings of civilians.” The Congress MP called upon the BJP-led central government to promptly assume responsibility and work diligently to bring peace to the Valley, prioritizing the protection of both military personnel and civilians.

Recent terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir

On Thursday, terrorists ambushed army vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, claiming the lives of two soldiers and two civilian porters. According to officials, the convoy, which included personnel from a Rashtriya Rifles unit and civilian porters, was en route to the Nagin post when terrorists attacked two army trucks near Gulmarg.

This incident adds to a series of recent violent acts, including the severe injury of a laborer from Uttar Pradesh in Pulwama and the October 24 killing of seven individuals in Ganderbal. Additional attacks earlier this month in Shopian and Anantnag have raised concerns, with violence increasingly affecting both military personnel and civilians in the region.
