New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MLA, Manish Sisodia, has launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of fabricating a "fantasy story" in the form of the liquor policy scam. Addressing AAP workers, Sisodia claimed that the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Arvind Kejriwal had put a definitive end to the BJP’s narrative.

BJP's allegations before the assembly elections

In a charged statement, Manish Sisodia remarked that the BJP had crafted this liquor scam story with the sole intention of imprisoning Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. He pointed out that despite the BJP's efforts, the court ruling in favor of Kejriwal derailed their plans.

Sisodia stated, “The BJP drafted a fantasy story named the 'liquor scam'. The Supreme Court gave bail to Arvind Kejriwal and ended that story... It is a happy ending for us and a sad ending for the BJP."

Supreme Court's bail decision

The Supreme Court’s two-judge bench, on September 13, granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the alleged liquor policy case, much to the relief of the AAP leadership. Sisodia reiterated that the BJP had hoped to keep Kejriwal behind bars until the Delhi elections, but their accusations were proven baseless in court.

“They thought they would keep Arvind Kejriwal jailed till the Delhi elections, but their stories were proven to be wrong in the court, and today Arvind Kejriwal and I are out of jail,” added Sisodia, who represents the Patparganj constituency.

Sisodia declines role of Delhi's deputy CM

In a surprising turn, after Kejriwal’s announcement to step down as Delhi’s Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia also declared that he would not be rejoining the government as Deputy Chief Minister. Instead, Sisodia vowed to take his case to the public and seek their support.

In a detailed post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Sisodia wrote, "I have also decided that I will go to public court along with Arvind Kejriwal and ask whether the public considers me honest or not. Elections are to be held in three-four months. If the public approves my honesty, only then will I sit on the chair of Deputy Chief Minister-Education Minister and work for education."

This development adds another twist to Delhi’s political landscape, as both leaders prepare to connect with the public ahead of the upcoming elections.
