New Delhi: A bizarre incident occurred on the Nashik-Mumbai Panchavati Express when several coaches became uncoupled at Kasara station in Thane on Saturday morning. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in this unusual event. The train, which started from Manmad junction in Nashik district and was headed to Mumbai, experienced the uncoupling around 8:40 AM, causing a brief disruption.

What happened?

As the train was leaving Kasara station, the connection between the fourth and fifth coaches came apart. Railway officials quickly responded to the situation, reattaching the coaches within 40 minutes, and the train resumed its journey towards Mumbai. Central Railway’s chief public relations officer, Swapnil Nila, confirmed the incident, assuring that the coupling mechanism remained intact, which allowed for the immediate resolution of the issue.

No break in coupling mechanism

Nila emphasized that the coupling between the coaches was not broken. "The coupling between the two coaches was not broken. If it was not intact, the train would not have left for Mumbai within 40 minutes," he explained. This reassured passengers and the public that the train’s safety mechanisms functioned correctly, preventing a more severe situation.

Possible cause of uncoupling

Another railway official suggested that the uncoupling might have been caused by a sudden jerk during acceleration. Such incidents can occur due to various factors, including mechanical issues or sudden movements. However, the exact cause was still under investigation to prevent future occurrences.

Additional delay at Kalyan Junction

After the uncoupling incident, the Panchavati Express faced another minor delay of over 10 minutes at Kalyan junction due to a track switching point failure. Despite these setbacks, the train continued its journey, reaffirming the resilience of the railway services.

Kerala Congress mocks incident with humorous post

Kerala Congress took a playful dig at the recent train incident by tagging Ashwini Vaishnaw in a social media post. They wrote, "An engine from Nashik has decided to embark on a solo journey, leaving its coaches behind. Could you, as the wise counselor, step in and help them reconcile? A sincere conversation and some gentle mediation from your side might just reunite them on the right track!"
