New Delhi: A disturbing case of alleged love jihad has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor, , where a young minor girl was reportedly abducted by a man named Fardeen. This individual allegedly coerced the girl with the help of his associates, leading to widespread outrage in the region.
The incident occurred in Dhampur, Bijnor, where the minor girl operated a small shop near her grandmother’s home. Fardeen, who resided nearby, frequently visited her shop and attempted to establish a relationship through his sister. On August 18, Fardeen, along with some accomplices, reportedly lured the girl away from her shop. He is accused of pressuring her to convert to his religion and marry him. When the girl refused, she was allegedly assaulted. She was then threatened with death, drugged and abandoned near her shop.
The victim’s family alleges that the police did not initially act on their complaint. It was only after protests by Hindu organizations that the police registered a case. Fardeen, along with one of his associates and an unidentified individual, has been arrested and jailed. However, the victim’s family claims that two of the alleged perpetrators remain at large and accuses the police of inadequate action, leading to renewed demonstrations.
The police are facing pressure to do a better job investigating the incident. People are demanding that they work harder to find and punish everyone involved. The police must now show that they are serious about solving the case and making sure everyone responsible is held accountable. They must do a thorough and transparent investigation to bring justice to the people affected.
