Bihar News: A Sub-Inspector in Bihar's Araria district is in critical condition after being struck by an arrow during a violent clash over a land dispute in Jokihat. The incident occurred on Monday morning when a police team was deployed to maintain order in Pokharia village under the Mahalgaon Police Station, where a mob of around 200 people was attempting to occupy disputed land belonging to Bhup Narayan Yadav.
According to police reports, the situation escalated when the group began erecting bamboo on the contested property, leading to a law-and-order issue. When the police intervened, the crowd turned violent, attacking the officers with bows and arrows. Sub-Inspector Nusrat Parveen was hit by an arrow that pierced her skull, leaving her critically injured. She was immediately rushed to Max Hospital in Purnia, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The Araria Police issued a statement on the matter, confirming that the incident took place in the early hours of September 23, 2024. "When the Mahalgawan police station chief and police force arrived at the scene to maintain order, some unruly elements in the crowd violently attacked the police. One officer was injured and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Sufficient law enforcement has been deployed to control the situation, and it is now under control," the statement read.
Authorities have registered a case at the Mahalgaon Police Station under Section 112, and efforts are underway to arrest those responsible for the attack. Additional law enforcement has been deployed to the area to ensure peace and stability.
