Bihar was Switzerland then became gutter: Prashant Kishor slams Tejashwi Yadav's double standards

Prashant Kishor told reporters, "I might comment if Tejashwi Yadav spoke about issues like caste, extortion, the liquor mafia or crime. But if he talks about the development model, it's laughable. They have been in power for the past 15 years. He doesn't even understand GDP and GDP growth but is discussing Bihar's development story."

New Delhi: Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor has disputed RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's claim that Bihar's development has been slow in major areas, even though it has a "double-engine" government, which was expected to bring faster progress and growth.

Tejashwi Yadav made a statement yesterday, alleging that the BJP's sole motivation is to gain power, and in doing so, they disregard the concerns and welfare of the general public.

Tejashwi Yadav slams Bihar government

Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly, criticized the state's performance, saying "Bihar is number one in unemployment, poverty, inflation and in corruption... Bihar is also number one in crime... Despite having a government at the centre and state, nothing has been corrected... BJP people are greedy for power only. They have nothing to do with the public," and highlighted the failure of the unified government to address these issues.

He called Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as a "tired chief minister." This comment followed Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Singh’s accusation that Mr. Yadav had remained silent about the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, which he described as "appeasement politics."

Prashant Kishor calls Tejashwi Yadav's development claims "laughable"

A day after Tejashwi Yadav's comments, Prashant Kishor responded by saying that it is "laughable" when Tejashwi Yadav talks about development, implying that his comments are unrealistic or lacking in credibility.

He told reporters, "I might comment if Tejashwi Yadav spoke about issues like caste, extortion, the liquor mafia or crime. But if he talks about the development model, it's laughable. They have been in power for the past 15 years. He doesn't even understand GDP and GDP growth but is discussing Bihar's development story."

He pointed out the hypocrisy of Tejashwi Yadav's views on Bihar's crime situation, saying "As far as crime is concerned, when Tejashwi Yadav was the Deputy Chief Minister six months ago, Bihar was Switzerland for him and after six months Bihar has become a gutter... If today Nitish Kumar joins Mahagathbandhan, Bihar will again start looking great to him..." Mr. Kishor highlighted how Mr. Yadav's perception of Bihar changes based on his political affiliations.

Prashant Kishor takes on former ally Nitish Kumar in Bihar polls

Prashant Kishor has announced that his new political party, Jan Suraaj, will participate in the 2025 Bihar state assembly elections.

Prashant Kishor, who previously worked with Nitish Kumar, recently criticized the Bihar Chief Minister, calling him "paltumaar" (a person who frequently changes sides) and accusing him of making flip-flops a regular part of his political strategy. Some experts predict that Kishor's new party, Jan Suraaj, may support select candidates in the upcoming Bihar election.

Bihar has been seeking financial assistance from the central government, and in response, the Union Budget 2024 allocated a ₹58.9 crore development package for the state's economic growth.
