Bihar: Police personnel held hostage by villagers, here’s why

Bihar: Police officials, including the police station officer who had gone to Madhubani to settle the dispute, were taken captive by the villagers.

A strange incident has been reported from Bihar’s Madhubani where, the locals kidnapped the police station officer and the accompanying officers who had gone to settle the conflict between people in Madhubani. Aggressive anti-social groups kidnapped the police and beat up all the accompanying police officers after they went to Dhaniya of Arer police station to settle the dispute. The police were held captive for around sixty minutes. An incident was also caused by snatching the mobile phone.

Police from other surrounding police stations arrived at the scene and freed the hostage once the DSP received information about the occurrence. Additionally, SHO Neha Nidhi was admitted to Rahika PHC for treatment along with other injured police officers. According to the reports, the police currently have three ladies who are engaged in the case under arrest.

Sakshi Kumari, Deepali, and Vinati Thakur of Dhaniya reportedly took the same vehicle to go to the center at Watson High School in Madhubani via Kaluahi in order to give matric exam. As per sources, Sakshi and Vinati Thakur had a disagreement about a certain matter for the past two days which resulted in another argument on Tuesday. Subsequently, Sakshi and her friend Deepali were mistreated by Vinati Thakur's brother on the bike. When dozens of people, including members of Vinati Thakur's family, arrived to Sakshi's home late on Tuesday night, they began beating and torturing her. Soon after this, Sakshi's sister informed the Arer SHO about the incident.

While on an evening patrol, SHO Neha Nidhi arrived at the location accompanied by two Loha Chowk police officers. After calming down the irate crowd, Neha Nidhi requested one person to take a seat in the police vehicle. In the meantime, enraged citizens attacked the police station car with stones and kidnapped four police officers, including the SHO. The SHO was then kidnapped and placed in a room. In the meantime, the SHO called DSP Benipatti on the government mobile to report the incidence. After learning about the situation, the police officers from Kaluahi, Rahika, and Aunsi OP arrived and freed the hostage police.

However, according to SHO Neha Nidhi's statement in this matter, 25 unidentified individuals have been taken into custody, including Rahul Kamat, Manita Kamat of Dhaniya, Gulab Thakur, Jaiprakash Thakur, Lalbabu Thakur, Shailendra Thakur, Bikau Thakur, Nirmala Devi, Bhagwan Ji Yadav, Ravin Sao, Sujit Thakur, and Rahul Sao.

Arer SHO Neha Nidhi stated that three persons have been taken into custody in connection with the crime, citing information obtained from sources. The investigation in the case has been initiated.
